Xanthigen optimizes weight loss by combining two ingredients.: Brown seaweed extract containing fucoxanthin and pomegranate seed oil containing punicic acids. The research indicated that these two ingredients help promote healthy weight levels. Their activity in combination was amplified beyond a simple addition of their two effects, meaning that there is a synergism between brown seaweed and pomegranate seed oil.

Xanthigen was found to be more effective than either of its ingredients on its own. This graph shows that Xanthigen was more effective in raising the resting energy expenditure than either fucoxanthin (green) or pomegranate seed oil (pink) although each raised the REE higher than the placebo group. These preliminary results were later confirmed by further clinical data.
